In the last year, the Canadian Centre for Substance Use and Addiction has shared new guidance on alcohol and health, and we want to keep you in the know. Alcohol can be harmful to anyone living with any form of liver disease and can be a risk factor for others in developing a liver disease. The prevention of alcohol-related liver disease and its complications plays a key part in keeping Canadians healthy.

April 25: Navigating the Healthcare System - Tips for Patients and Caregivers
Navigating Canada’s healthcare system as a person affected by liver disease, either as a patient, caregiver, or loved one, can be challenging, and often there are barriers that may feel impossible to overcome. We want to help provide those affected by liver disease with more tools to navigate barriers in the Canadian healthcare system, and so have put together a panel of experts to answer some common questions about access to treatment and services with a liver disease.

May 15: CLF & UHN Present - How to find a living liver donor
The Canadian Liver Foundation is partnering with UHN’s Ajmera Transplant Centre for an exciting webinar about how to find a living liver donor. This session will focus on what to do if you’re in need of a living organ donation, and the steps you can take to help find a suitable match for you. Join us on May 15, 2024, at 7pm ET, to hear from the Ajmera Transplant Centre’s Education and Outreach Coordinator, Candice Coghlan, and our patient speaker, Afsana Lallani, an organ donation recipient.
June 27: CLF x Obesity Canada Present: Understanding Obesity and Liver Disease
Liver disease intersects with many other health conditions, including obesity, and it is important to understand how these conditions can impact one another. While liver disease and obesity can affect individuals differently, being aware of how to prevent, treat and manage both conditions can lead to a healthier lifestyle overall. Being diagnosed with a genetic liver disease can be overwhelming, and understanding your condition can be a challenge. This webinar offers some guidance and education on the causes, symptoms and diagnoses of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) along with updates on the latest research and treatment options. As with most liver diseases, PBC and PSC may come with daily challenges, dietary changes, and side effects from medications used to treat the conditions.
